We thought it would be fun to take a field trip or two. With greater than 300 graduates in our class, there was and endless source of options to consider. We mulled over possibilities including Visual and Performance Arts, Athletics, Festivals, Religious and Civic Assemblies, Hodge Podge and of course the all important quiet time. We tried very hard to remain inclusive. A stop landed us in the front office of our Alma Mater and we scored schedules and itineraries for some Higgins family fun. We plan to stop again to see upcoming schedules and itineraries.

Approaching the end of the season…
Varsity football is just one of the things that has happened during the 200 years that Jefferson Parish has touted as business as usual during its tenure; we move forward embracing the changes that we encounter through life and acknowledge it as just. In a few weeks we begin anew at the start of the new century Bright-eyed and Bushy- tailed, what happens in the coming years, only time will tell.
blueandgold1980.com invites you to
A Reunion of Sorts
When: October 31, 2026
Where: A walking track of your choice
Time: Dusk to Dawn
Attire: Walking track friendly
RSVP: None needed
Without breaking any rules, let’s make a memory and have a shared experience as a class taking a walk on the wild side with a moonlit sky. Walk or run as fast or slow as you like as many times as you like on a track that you like to continue the tradition of having a good time.
Picture this: You are given a “Blank Canvas” and can create whatever you want. Your budget, time and needed resources are limited to your personal desires as long as you create whatever you are asked to. You are responsible to something, someone greater than you are. This is your charge in 2026. You will find everything that you need to get started written in Periscope and Perspectives. Let’s hewn in and create, create, create.

The geographical boundaries for students at our school included Waggaman, Avondale, Bridge City, Nine Mile Point, Westwego and Marrero. These guidepost can be found within these communities. They tell us stories about the past and the present.

We are a part of the New Orleans Metropolitan community, which is the center of most of the commerce and business in the region.

Ta daaaaa…
With so many places to go, people to see and things to do, there is hardly enough time for anything else, but we suggest that at your leisure you squeeze in some time for this walking tour covering ten points of interest in downtown New Orleans; they are an eclectic collection of art and information with historical and current relevance. The tour spans from the borders of the French Quarter to central parts of the Warehouse District, so a bicycle or a scooter may be more enjoyable for some. We have given nicknames to the exhibits for easy identification and listed the nearest street names as well. As a partner in our reunion activities we want to thank you for your participation and encourage you continue to participate in future events!
- You’ll see “Benjamin” at Camp and Lafayette Square
- At Poyadras and Penn a handsome couple bearing a slingshot and mandolin
- The “ipsilateral couple” poses naturally on Girard near Magazine
- A pair of “Peagles” (or maybe “Big Birds”) hover at the corner of Saint Charles near Girard, actually it’s the corner of Camp near Girard and we are happy to see them back
- A “Declaration of Free Enterprise” is proudly mounted at the foot of Loyola and Common
- An “Immigrant Family” is shrouded by an angel in Woldenberg Park along the banks of the Mississippi River
- A sidewalk theatre placard on Decatur near Jackson Square mentions Indians and Frenchmen conducting business
- At Saint Phillip and Decatur “Girl and Steed” glistens
- On the grounds of the old US Mint is a placard with local familiar names and surprising twist at Esplanade and North Peters
- The Conti and North Rampart neutral ground placard honors the brave and the fallen past and present
The land is embellished through travel. It’s exciting to see a new place or revisit the familiar. Our mapping reveals an embracing of it and the fact that there are many new places to discover still. Engage us and talk about your travels.
